Why Participate in Examples of Excelencia?

Examples As A Self-Assessment Tool

The Examples submission form provides a framework for practitioners to tell a clear and compelling story of their program’s impact, grounded in evidence. For example, programs are encouraged to reflect on their mission and goals, articulate the need being addressed, and summarize the evidence-based practices they implement. This self-assessment tool also encourages programs to identify strengths, surface gaps, and celebrate progress while detailing their staffing, funding, and both quantitative and qualitative evidence of effectiveness.

Programs are encouraged to use these insights to inform continuous improvement and advance student-centered transformation to ensure they are places where Latino, and other post-traditional, students can thrive.

Examples As An Opportunity for National Recognition

Excelencia elevates the good work and good people from across the country through Examples of Excelencia by highlighting what works to increase student success. In doing so, Excelencia  informs institutional, policy, and philanthropic efforts to learn from, adapt, and scale evidence-based programs that can demonstrate positive impact in advancing Latino, and all, students’ access to excellence.

Recognized Programs have access to the following opportunities:

Examples As a Community of Practice

Finalists and Examples of Excelencia are invited to participate in the Excelencia in Action (E-Action) Network at the program level. This is a community of practice that brings together leaders from recognized programs around a shared commitment to student success. Through small, cohort-based conversations, such as pláticas, practitioners share and learn from one another, explore ways to strengthen their efforts and expand their impact while reinforcing the importance of intentionally SERVING Latino, and all, students.
